RIMs Edge of Excellence Newsletter: Celebrating Our Incredible Students!

Posted Date: 02/14/25 (03:45 PM)

Dear Students, Families, and Staff,
February is a time for appreciation and kindness, and we encourage everyone to take a moment to remind our students how special they are. A simple word of encouragement can go along way in showing them how valued they are in our community!

Today, we proudly celebrate our incredible students and the many achievements that highlight their dedication, curiosity, and passion for learning. From developing new skills in sign language to creating rainbow scopes, from exploring coding as future innovators to excelling in academics, sports, and the arts-our students continue to amaze us with their talents and perseverance.

We also recognize the milestones that make this year so special: awards, ceremonies that honor student excellence, the hard work of our new graduates, and the commitment of our teachers who inspire and guide every step of the way! Additionally, our freshmen and sophomores  have embraced opportunities for growth through our Day of Understanding, fostering deeper connections and awareness within our school community.
Let's celebrate our students' !

Page Two: INSPIRATION! From ROWUSD Superintendent, Dr. Paul Sevillano: Dear Parents, Students, & Staff, I am pleased to announce that every school in our district is now equipped with a fully operational generator!  This means that power shutoffs will no longer disrupt learning, and we will not have to miss school days due to power outages in the future!  At ROWUSD,  we are committed to ensuring our students and staff have a safe, stable, and uninterrupted learning environment, no matter the circumstances.    Our schools are more than places of learning-they are communities where students are supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their fullest potential.  I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who made this possible, from our dedicated facilities team to our supportive community. Thank you for  your continued partnership in making our schools stronger and more resilient and for being an important part of ROWUSD.

Page Four: ROWUSD District Goals in Action: Community Schools At ROWUSD, we are dedicated to ensuring that every student has the tools and support they need to succeed! Community Schools are a vital part of this commitment, offering much more than academics. Our schools serve as hubs of opportunity, providing additional resources such as tutoring, counseling, after-school programs, the Elementary Reading Literacy with Retirees Initiative, and our engaging Saturday Academy.; We are pleased to share an update on our district’s progress towards the district applying for the Community Schools Implementation Grant. We officially submitted the grant application on February 7th, 2025, and anticipate receiving results by the end of March or early April.  While we await the outcome, we remain optimistic about the potential funding and the positive impact it could have on our schools and community.  This grant represents an exciting opportunity to expand our programs, introduce new initiatives that enhance student learning, promote inclusivity, and strengthen the support available to families.  With these additional resources, we can further address the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students-ensuring they continue to thrive in a safe and welcoming environment.  We appreciate everyone who participated in School Site Councils, COST committee meetings and our school’s leadership efforts that have been instrumental in moving forward with the grant application. Your dedication and collaboration is a key in shaping a stronger and more connected school community! Stay tuned for updates as we await approval, and thank you for being part of this exciting journey!
